CCSL Code of Conduct

It is the responsibility of each Coach, Parent and Swimmer to follow the League’s Code of Conduct, the facility rules, and League Rules (see below). Any breach of these may/will result in removal from the meet grounds and future league events.

General Code of Conduct (applies to all coaches, swimmer, and parents)

All participants of the Clear Creek Swim League are expected to adhere to the code of conduct:

  • All swimmers, coaches, parents and spectators are expected to demonstrate respect to all swimmers, teammates, competitors, parents, and coaches
  • Support and encourage all swimmers and teammates at practices and meets
  • Profanity, abusive language, or threatening behavior towards any swimmer, parent, coach, official, or board members will not be tolerated, and will result in disciplinary action.
  • Bullying behavior of any kind will not be tolerated and will result in disciplinary action. Bullying should be reported to team officials immediately.
  • Respect all facilities and equipment made available by teams of CCSL.
  • ALL participants (coaches, parents, swimmers, etc) are expected to refrain from the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco at all CCSL events.
  • Social media should be used responsibly, respectfully, and in compliance team and league social media guidelines.

Coaches Code of Conduct

Coaches are expected to adhere to the following code of conduct:

  • Coaches will ensure a safe and positive environment for all swimmers and junior coaches at all practices and meets
  • Coaches are expected to provide positive support, care, and encouragement for all swimmers participating in Clear Creek Swim League.
  • Coaches will ensure that safety and fun are top priority for all swimmers.
  • Coaches are expected to provide a safe environment and use swim skill techniques appropriate to the individual swimmer.
  • Swimmers will be treated with respect and criticism will be constructive by all coaches.
  • Coaches will teach not only swim-skills, but the values of hard work, teamwork, and the meaning of good sportsmanship.
  • Coaches are expected to demonstrate, and lead by example, good sportsmanship during all CCSL events.
  • Coaches are expected to know and understand the rules of the Clear Creek Swim League and abide by them.
  • All swimmer disciplinary issues will be addressed with a parent present.
  • Coaches are expected to practice the ‘buddy system’ ensuring that they are never intentionally in a situation where they might be alone with minor swimmers. At least 2 adults should be present.
  • All meet officials will be treated with respect, and their authority recognized at swim meets.
  • All misconduct, safety concerns, or violations of the Code of Conduct will be reported immediately to the Team Board, CCSL Board, or designated league officials.

Parents Code of Conduct

Parents and family members are expected to adhere to the following code of conduct:

  • Parents will ensure a safe and positive environment for not only their own swimmer(s) but all swimmers, coaches and junior coaches at all practices and meets
  • Parents will provide positive support, care, and encouragement for all swimmers participating in Clear Creek Swim League.
  • Ensure that safety and fun are top priority for all swimmers.
  • Parents are expected to demonstrate by example, and encourage from their swimmer (s), good sportsmanship during all CCSL events.
  • Parents will place the emotional and physical well-being of the swimmer(s) ahead of their personal desire to win.
  • Parents are expected to treat all officials, coaches, volunteers and swimmers with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.
  • Parents will guide their swimmers to treat other swimmers, coaches, fans and officials with respect, regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.
  • Parents are expected to provide support to coaches and officials working with swimmers to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
  • Questions regarding swimming techniques, meet procedures, league matters, CCLS rules should be addressed with team leadership before approaching officials or coaches.
  • Parents should communicate through the team coach or other team representatives. Concerns and constructive criticisms should be expressed away from swimmers.
  • If there are concerns pertaining to the behavior of swim meet officials, coaches, spectators, or other volunteers, parents should be address these with the appropriate League Representatives.
  • Parents who observe misconduct, safety concerns, or violations of the Code of Conduct will report violations promptly to the CCSL Board or designated league officials.
  • Social media will be used responsibly and respectfully and adhered to by the guidelines set forth by the league and your individual team.
  • Parents will make a best effort to meet the volunteer requirements set forth by team, understanding that without volunteers, swim meets cannot function.

Swimmers Code of Conduct

Swimmers are expected to adhere to the following code of conduct:

  • Demonstrate and encourage good sportsmanship from fellow swimmers, coaches, officials, and parents at all practices and events.
  • Treat coaches, other swimmers, officials, volunteers, and spectators with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, age, ability, religion, or beliefs.
  • Swimmers are expected to follow all rules established by the team to create a safe and fun environment.
  • Swimmers are expected to make a best effort to listen and learn from the coaches.
  • Remember that swimming is an opportunity to have fun, and to learn that hard work does pay off.
  • Swimmers are expected not to engage in bullying, teasing, or exclusion of any kind – whether in person or online.
  • Swimmers are expected to follow the Social Media Guidelines set forth buy the CCSL and their individual teams.
  • Should the scenario arise that the swimmer is no longer having fun, the swimmer will alert their parents and coaches so solutions can be found.

CCSL Social Media Guidelines

Do:

  • Use social media to positively support teammates and celebrate accomplishments.
  • Share team spirit and promote CCSL values.
  • Think before posting—ask yourself if it’s kind, respectful, and appropriate.
  • Understand and follow the guidelines set forth by individual teams.

Don’t:

  • Post hurtful, offensive, or inappropriate content about teammates, coaches, officials, or CCSL events.
  • Share private team matters or personal information without permission.
  • Use social media to bully, tease, or exclude others.
